Pallavi Kurella

Pallavi was a junior undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh. She pursued a major in Neuroscience, a minor in Chemistry, and certificates in the Conceptual Foundations of Medicine, Global Health, and Disability Studies. Pallavi was passionate about neuroscience and worked on the “AD Project,” where she studied the role of reactive astrocytes in the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease, specifically focusing on the Na+/H+ Exchanger Isoform 1 (NHE1) protein in AD mouse models. After graduation, Pallavi hopes to continue her education in medical school to fulfill her goal of becoming a Developmental Pediatrician and treating children in underserved communities. Outside the lab, Pallavi worked as a Medical Assistant at the Children’s Hospital and is an avid volunteer, actively involved with numerous organizations in Pittsburgh.
