Sophia Rose
Sophia is an undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) majoring in neurobiology and minoring in chemistry. Sophia is interested in exploring the biological mechanisms behind neurodegenerative diseases and conditions. Currently, they are a part of the Ncoa7 project investigating the role of Ncoa7 in lysosomal acidification and influencing ischemic stroke outcomes. They help with immunohistochemistry experiments, perfusion, sectioning, animal colony maintenance, and data analysis. Outside of the lab, Sophia is the vice president of the Carnegie Mellon University Science Olympiad Organization and enjoys spending time with their pets. This summer, Sophia will work as an R&D intern in the Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering group at Pfizer in Cambridge, MA. After graduation, Sophia plans to complete a PhD in molecular biology or biological chemistry, focusing on drug discovery and development for neurodegenerative diseases.
